What does it mean to lead a Life Group?
A Life Group leader has three main responsibilities:
1. arranging the meeting time and place of the group
2. leading the session
3. meeting periodically with the life group pastor
Who can lead a Life Group?
Anyone who wants to. Our goal as a church is for everyone to be involved in a life group and therefore, we want the process of starting a group to be easy. If you are interested and have a group of people you would like to meet with, please click on the ‘start a group’ tab. The group life pastor will be in touch with you. We do have a short process on the front end to make sure that the group aligns with our church mission and vision and the group life pastor will help with the next steps for your group.
Where do I go if I need help?
The life group pastor will be a resource for you and provide further training and assistance regarding things like group dynamics, tips on how to steer discussions, etc. We realize that most schedules are busy so we minimize meetings and instead conduct most of our training through email, phone and the internet; this allows you to access information when it is convenient for you. We also want to invest in you as a person so face to face meetings will be about building a relationship with you and how we can best help you as a leader grow in your faith.
Where do I find study materials?
The church is happy to help order books, DVDs, or point you in the right direction. We will also provide a few questions to groups that pertain to the current weekend sermon series we are going through.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Once you commit to leading a group, we ask that you make a commitment to lead it for a year. Experience tells us that close relationships develop over time. We also want you to know that we are always available to help coach you and guide you. The best way for us to help you is for you to tell us where you feel like you need the most help. We do have some training basics but understand that everyone is an individual with different needs and abilities and we will commit to meeting you where you are and helping you to be the best leader you can be.
