Welcome

Icebreaker: What's something you've seen that was broken or needed fixing, but you weren't sure where to start?

Read

Read Nehemiah 1:1-11.

Discuss

  1. How do we see the heart of Nehemiah in these verses?

  2. What does Nehemiah do before approaching the king, and what does that reveal about his priorities?

  3. What stands out to you about the way Nehemiah prays?

  4. Why do you think Nehemiah confesses the sins of his people, even though he wasn't personally responsible for Jerusalem's destruction?

  5. When you see something broken in your life or the world around you, what can you learn from Nehemiah's response?

Practice

Pray like Nehemiah. Begin by praising the character of the One you’re praying to, then confess any sin the Spirit brings to mind, and finally make your request known to God.

Don’t know where to start? Pray the Lords Prayer, Matthew Ch. 6.

Share and Pray

In groups of 3–4, share a high, a low, and a “buffalo.” Pray together.

Close

Close by sharing who your “one more” is, pray together for a chance for you to share your faith with them in the near future.
